RE: Air brakes

Things have changed cloud7, first you must find out what brand of slacks are on the unit, then go to their web site or book and look up the specific adjustment procedures. Some DO NOT back off and must be disconnected and taken all the way around, some must have their adjusting lever disconnected. All depends on brand.

RE: how fast

OK, just checked the fuel useage form Van Horn, Texas to Bastrop, Texas (east of Austin) running 75 until dark when speed limit drops to 65 and pulling a Land Rover Discovery on a Croft dolly. Comes in at slightly over 7mpg. I can live with that as a Discovery is a heavy car.
Anyone running I10 and or US290 at dusk/dawn WATCH FOR DEER!!! Really bad out that way this year.

RE: collision avoidance vorad research

In most cities it is not possible to follow at the proper distance as cars will fill any hole large enough to fit in. When humanly possibe, I always use the 3 second rule. Been on the road a long time and gave up counting after the first million miles but have never had a chargable accident. My last accident was being rearended buy a drunk twice, at the same traffic light. Since I was in his way he backed up and ramed me again.
If you pull a car how does the rear radar work? Is it portable?

RE: how fast

We use our MH as more of a transportation vehicle that has a nice apartment attached so I tend to drive fast. I won't fly anymore so that's one reason for the MH.
Not afraid to fly just started flying back in the "Old Days" when you were treated well rather than todays "Herd of Cattle" mind set. The airport security thing just POs me too. Guilty until proven inocent doesn't go over real good with me. On well, it created lots of jobs anyway.
Back to the topic. Just got home from the SEMA Show & PBR Finals in Vegas and was only passed by some 4 wheelers and one bobtail (except in Tucson when my fuel filter plugged and a guy on a bicycle passed us). We run mostly in the west where limits are higher and run the limit weather permitting. One couple we got stuck behind in CA between the NV line & I40 on US95 doing 40-45 in a 55 are what gives all of us a bad name. If you want to sight see, STOP and do it!

I REALLY do not understand the need for this toy. If you have the coin and like electronic toys OK but otherwise put down the cell phone and drive:-)

RE: Class A "Information"

Jake brake (engine brake) is superior to Pac brake (exhaust brake) and offers a 3 stage brakeing ability. Another vote for ultraleather, espically with pets on board. I like the hydraulic leavelers. Our MH has a projection TV unit with the screen dropping down over the windshield with built in surround sound, kinda neat for dvds.

RE: Your help appreicated

The fuse link on the starter supplies ALL power to the OEM chassis and this should be all it is asked to do. Over time some one may have hooked a high draw item to the chassis's electrical system and if so it needs to be rerouted. Be sure you are using a large enough fuse link, it should be a 14 gage. DO NOT install with cheap butt connectors, to much resistance.

RE: changing engines

A 7.3 Ford non turbo diesel won't be much stronger than the 460 and a 7.3 turbo will generate a LOT of heat problems in the cab and with the cooling system. The 460 isn't a bad engine and a fresh rebuild with some upgrades such as a cam, better intake manifold and high flow exhaust manifolds or headers (ceramic coated will lower the heat generated greatly) with full dual exhaust. If money allowes, convert it to a stand alone EFI and it will out pull any new gas HM chasis. EFI could pay for it's self in the long run but it will be a very long run.

RE: Onan 7.5 Diesel fuel filter

Any where it will fit between the tank and genset is fine. Watch for power and air lines befor drilling. The smaller the micron number the cleaner the fuel will be and a larger filter (case size) will last longer than a small one with the same rating. Make sure you get it in the suction line, not the return.

RE: Backup Monitor Problem

Mine is overhead mounted and has two fuses in-line on the monitor's factory wires. They are hidden just inside the hole that the wires come through, both are the old style glass fuses. One is 1A and the other is a 5A, the 5A is power, on with the key, and the 1A is the auto switch when you go in reverse. If you recently jump started the drive engine w/o turning off the monitor you blew out the 5A (or what ever size your's may be), ask me how I know :-)

RE: Headlight relay installation question

Doesn't matter which high beam you tap into. Either will activate the relay and keep the low beams on.

RE: brake light failure on34 foot 1994 allegro bay

Harnesses rarely go bad with out being damaged. Look first to see if the brake lights have their own fuse, then at the switch for both power and output. Next check to see if the turn signal switch has the brake light power running through it, some do some don't. Next check the harness, many rear ones are made in two or three sections linked with push-on connectors. Good harnesses use weather proof connectors but some don't. If it's a harness problem, the connectors will be where it's at.

RE: Thanks,, but...

I just bought a cap for $8. That's right - the WHOLE cap for only eight bucks.
You've already posted twice to try to find the seal part number. You're obviously not even sure if they have the correct seal because you don't know the actual number. Then I guarantee you it's an order item. Takes 3 days. So guaranteed two trips to NAPA. And how much you gonna save? 3 or 4 bucks?
Not to mention the electricity to turn the computer on..........
Aside from the fact that you've posted twice under ambiguous headings to make us read it - and waste our time.
I'll paypal you the $8. Autozone has a big box gull of them.
Spend the big bucks and get one that locks!
Hey Vern, what's a big box gull??? Sounds like the start of a really bad joke :-)

RE: Slide outs

Manual operation should be in the books if you were lucky enough to get them. Both problems could be bad or weak batteries, a poor connection @ the batteries or motor connections or a solinoid going bad.

RE: Electric problem (no 12 volt power)

Stories would be funny if they weren't so common. Have a BMW in the shop right now that another garage put nitrogen in the a/c system to show the owner the compressor was bad and would need replaced at about $2,000.00. Put refrigent in the car and it works fine. Some people shouldn't be in the trade.

RE: 2005 Mandalay 40e Slide Out Problem

Mine is a GulfStream but had the same problem but with retract. Problem was a spade connector on the solinoid that had been over crimped and was cracked inside the insulator. Took a while to find but an easy repair.

RE: Stuck Slideout on 2995 Mandalay

Look for the interlock relay (the one that wont't let the slide work with the engine running or the park brake not engaged).

RE: BACK UP LIGHTS

Ours are on a rocker switch with a light bulb symbol pointed down. Ours can be turned on anytime. Not the best switch marking but the lights are quite handy.
